IDGA’s NCW Awards™ were established to honor outstanding contributions in network centric warfare and operations. The NCW Awards™ are held annually and judged by a volunteer panel representing the Department of Defense, active duty military, industry partners and academia.

2008 Award Categories
Outstanding US Government Program
Judgment Criteria:
The Outstanding US Government Program awards a program that best illustrates the concepts and execution of netcentricity to establish a measurable strategic or tactical advantage. Applicants must be military programs although contractors may submit awards on the program’s behalf. Criteria include:
- Description of how the program incorporates the principles of network-centric warfare
- How the program contributed to the overall effectiveness of the warfighter or end-user
- Objectives of the program and a technical profile
- An explanation of how interoperability and joint force integration have been factored into the development process
- 300 word limit per each of the above
Outstanding Contribution to the Development of NCW
The Outstanding Contribution to the Development of NCW is an award presented to the program, company or individual that exhibited an outstanding measurable contribution to the advancement and development of NCW. Eligible applicants can be a program, company or individual working in NCW. Criteria include:
- A description of the contribution and reasoning as to how it supports the development of NCW
- A description of how the work contributes to the advancement and education of NCW
- Provide reasoning and support for how the work contributes to overall military theory, doctrine and transformation
- Identifying the strategy and methods for communicating this development to others in the community
- 300 word limit for each of the above
Outstanding NCW Program from a Coalition Partner
The Outstanding NCW Program from a Coalition Partner is awarded to a Coalition Partner who has developed and/or utilized an outstanding program in a joint or Coalition environment to achieve interoperability and netcentricity. Criteria include:
- A description of the conceptual framework and development
- A description of the overall effectiveness of the program
- An explanation of how the initiative promotes interoperability and systems integration in a joint or Coalition environment
- A description of the testing, evaluation and operational deployment of the program into current or future military operations
- 300 word limit for each of the above
Outstanding Achievement from a Defense Industry Partner
The Outstanding Achievement from a Defense Industry Partner award recognizes a vendor, contractor or supplier that has worked closely with a military program to provide a strategic and/or tactical advantage. Emphasis is placed on how well the submission illustrates how the achievement improves operational effectiveness. Criteria include:
- A description of the achievement’s principles of network-centric warfare
- An explanation of the need for the achievement’s program/initiative and how it supports the Department of Defense’s goals/objectives
- An explanation of the conceptual development and a technical profile of the program/initiative
- A description of how interoperability and joint force integration have factored into the development process
- A detailed report on the collaborative process with government and/or other industry partners
The Arthur K. Cebrowski Award
The Arthur K Cebrowski Award honors a nominated person who has had an impact on the development and evolution of netcentricity. Nominations are free via this website. Criteria include:
- The nominee’s role in NCW
- The nominee’s contribution or contributions to the advancement of NCW
- The nominee’s impact on the wardfigher
- The nominee’s impact on the nominator
Eligibility to Apply
US Government, Defense Industry and Coalition Defense Forces are encouraged to submit applications for IDGA's NCW Awards™. (Civilians working solely and directly for a military program will count as military. Civilians working in a military program office as a consultant to the military will be considered a military contractor).

Rules, Regulations & Procedures for Entry Submission
To be considered for IDGA’s 2008 NCW Awards™, your entry MUST meet the following requirements:
1. Each category contains multiple questions, which add up to 100%. Each entry must answer all questions listed. Failure to answer any portion of the application may result in the forfeiture of the entry. If your entry fails to meet the requirements and format noted herewith, you may be disqualified and forfeit your application fee as a result.
2. The entries must be received by 11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time, Friday, December 7, 2007. No late entries will be accepted (unless the deadline is officially extended). The contact person listed on the Application Submission Form will be contacted via e-mail upon receipt of your entry.
3. Application Form (with all required fields filled), must be completed online.
4. Permission Affidavit Form must be completed, online. An application fee of $79 must accompany each entry, for each award category (except for the Arthur K. Cebrowski Award). Payment can be sent by check or made by credit card online. Companies may submit multiple payments for each category (organization and/or individual) on one check. Application fees must be received along with your entry to be considered. For each category you wish to be considered for you must complete a specific category application and enclose the appropriate amount for each one.
5. No proprietary information of the NCW Awards™ program including, but not limited to, total number of applications received, number of applications received in any and all categories, individual scores and/or comments of judges, total scores and/or averages, shall be released to anyone or to the general public, for any reason.
Special Note:
Unclassified supporting materials are encouraged to be sent via mail. Supporting documents can include:
- A two to five-minute overview on CD/DVD
- Brochures
- Data including key figures and statistics
- Testimonials
These materials must be received by the deadline date to be considered in the judging
